Sir Ian McKellen states that black actors are not the only marginalized talent in Hollywood. Mckellen brings to light that an openly gay person has yet to win an Oscar. McKellen himself has been nominated twice. Although he did not win either time, both speeches he had written for his potential win started with, ?I?m proud to be the first openly gay man to win the Oscar.? McKellan also acknowledges that this is the second year now that there have only been white nominees in the acting categories. He urges for change and diversity in the next Oscar Awards to come.
