On Thursday, Universal Studios confirmed that their reboot of The Mummy will be set in their shared monster movie universe. And Tom Cruise will officially have a role in film. However, the release date for this Mummy reboot did get bumped back more than two months, from March 24th to June 9 in 2017. Alex Kurtzman will be directing te film, and the hip hop dancer and Nike Model Sofia Boutella has been cast as the Mummy. Kurtzman and Chris Morgan are teaming up to plan Universal's monster universe. The studio plans to reboot classic monsters in separate films and then have them join together in an Avengers style action film.
