"Creed" director Ryan Coogler revealed that he has been a life-long fan of the "Black Panther" comic book series.
While speaking with MTVNews the film director recalled that he got into comics at a local shop next to his elementary school which he frequented between baseball and track practice.
One day Coogler asked if the shop had any comics about black people, when he was shown a few issues of Black Panther.
The character of Black Panther will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in "Captain America: Civil War" later this year.
A standalone Black Panther movie is also scheduled to be directed by Coogler for a February 2017 release.
