VIDEO : Black Actors Speak Out Against Oscar's Diversity Problem

Actors David Oyelowo and Idris Elba both recently spoke out about the 2016 Oscars, which are being criticized for their lack of diversity in their nominations. Oyelowo, who many thought was snubbed at last year's Oscars, spoke out Monday about the problem. He said "The reason why the Oscars are so important is because...it is the height of celebration of artistic endeavor within the filmmaking community. We must make our voices heard." Elba, who was not nominated for his role in "Beast of No Nation", spoke to a group at the British Parliament Monday, stating that the problem isn't just in the U.S. but also in Britian. The Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs said the problem is improtant and that changes will be made. She said the academy "will conduct a review of our membership recruitment in order to bring about much-needed diversity in our 2016 class and beyond."
