VIDEO : David Bowie's Blackstar Knocks Adele's 25 Off the U.S. Album Charts

David Bowie topped the list after his final album Blackstar shifted 181,000 units last week to knock Adele's 25 off the top spot.

Last week marks his biggest sales week since Nielsen began tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991, Billboard reports. His previous sales high in that period came in 2013 when The Next Day sold 85,000 in its first week.

Nine other Bowie albums also re-entered or debuted on the Billboard 200 for the first time this week.
The album is the first posthumous No. 1 album since Michael Jackson's This Is It topped the chart on Nov. 14, 2009, several months after the singer died.

In the UK, Blackstar also had a strong performance, coming in with combined sales of 146,168 according to the Official Charts Company (OCC).
