VIDEO : Nile Rodgers is Convinced He Could Have Supported David Bowie If He Had Known He Was Ill

Celebrity in this news:

Nile Rodgers worked with Bowie on his 1982 album Let?s Dance, producing hits such as ?Modern Love? and ?China Girl,? and he was left devastated when he heard the rocker had passed away on Sunday, 18 months after being diagnosed with cancer.

David kept his health crisis a secret, but Nile, who previously won a battle with prostate cancer, is convinced he could have supported his old friend if he had known.
He tells Billboard.com,

?Because I?ve had my own fight with cancer for five years now, and even if I had a scintilla of a clue, I?d be there for him in a minute. The best advice my friends who?ve gone through cancer have given me is this wonderful support mechanism. I would have really been there. Many musicians have reached out to me because I was very public about cancer.?

However, Nile is adamant cancer-sufferers deal with the news in their own way and he respects David for deciding to keep his diagnosis quiet.
