LONDON ? Alan Rickman, one of the UK's best known actors, has died aged 69. The Guardian reported he had been suffering from cancer. Playing villain Hans Gruber opposite Bruce Willis in Die Hard - a part he was given two days after arriving in LA, Rickman shot to fane in 1988. He went on to play several other villains, including the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves and Rasputin in Rasputin: Dark Servant Of Destiny. He's also starred in Sense and Sensibility, Love Actually, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Millions of fans will remember him as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films.
