Colin Trevorrow, director of last summer's Jurassic World, has been officially announced as the director for Star Wars Episode 9; the final installment in the latest trilogy under the franchise's new Disney ownership. A petition arose since Colin's announced involvement calling for him to be replaced by series creator George Lucas. Said petition has now reached approximately 20,000 signatures, and Trevorrow has caught wind of the development. At the BAFTA Awards Season Tea Party, he said, "We want to channel the invention and just the raw creativity and the boldness that George brought to these films and not [be] afraid that we're going to embarrass ourselves by doing something that might be crazy." Episode 9 is set for release in 2019.
