Dakota Johnson and John Boyega will go head-to-head for the EE Rising Star Award 2016.
The Award is awarded to an actor or actress who has demonstrated exceptional talent and are destined for bright futures in film and handed out at the BAFTA Awards.
Also nominated are the Room star Brie Larson, Kingsman: The Secret Service actor Taron Egerton and Equals actress Bel Powley.
John was plucked from relative obscurity to play new character Finn in the seventh installment of the Star Wars franchise
He said: "Thank you to BAFTA and the jury. I'm honoured to be considered for the EE Rising Star Award in this company. What a great way to start the new year."
The 23-year-old actor has also bagged his first role since finding fame in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in Nickelodeon's animated series Tinkershrimp & Dutch.
