VIDEO : Quentin Tarantino Says 'The Hateful Eight' Started Off as a Sequel to 2012's Django Unchaine

Quentin Tarantino turned up unannounced at a screening of his latest film, The Hateful Eight, at Austin's Alamo Drafthouse theater.

Entertainment Weekly reports that before a post-screening Q&A, Alamo Drafthouse CEO Tim League surprised everyone by bringing out Tarantino as well as his friend, frequent collaborator and fellow writer-director Robert Rodriguez, as special guests. League said to the crowd, ?You guys are the lucky ones!"

During the Q&A, Tarantino admitted that he wrote Hateful Eight while he was depressed and angry and that the pic started off as a sequel to 2012's Django Unchained, with the prospective film to be titled Django in White Hell. The filmmaker jettisoned that idea when he realized that Django would not fit into the story.
