Joy is the story of Joy Mangano , the inventor of the Miracle Mop who made her first fortune on the shopping network. Directed by David O. Russell, the film stars Jennifer Lawrence in the title role and Bradley Cooper as a QVC executive. But the behind the scenes role when to none other than Cooper's mom. Cooper said, "She actually was a consultant for David on the movie when he was conceiving it because she's a huge disciple of QVC." Cooper recounted how his whole life he had known the Miracle Mop personally because of his duty of mopping as a child in his mother's home.
