It looks like Jennifer Hudson, Danielle Brooks and newcomer Cynthia Erivo may want to get an early start on their Tony Award dresses. The Oscar winner and the Orange Is the New Black star made their Broadway debuts last night alongside Erivo when the Oprah Winfrey-produced re. vival of The Color Purple musical opened at The Bernard B. Jacobs Theater.
The New York Times called the show a "miracle" made from a "spark of genius." New York magazine hailed the production as "one of the greatest revivals ever." The star-studded opening night guest list included Neil Patrick Harris, Gayle King, Tamron Hall, The Color Purple author Alice Walker
