Project for Awesome, an annual charity event created by YouTube duo John and Hank Green, kicked off its the ninth annual livestream to raise money for Save the Children and UN Refugee Agency on Friday. In its first 22 minutes, the event ? nicknamed P4A ? had already raised more than $80,000. About 2,776 were live streaming during that time.
However, John said the event is not just about raising money.
?You don?t have to donate to be part of this," he said during the livestream. "A lot of it, for me, is the chat ? people coming together around something that?s bigger than them and being excited about it."
