Celebrity in this news:

"Holly came from Miami F-L-A / Hitchhiked her way across the U.S.A." So go the opening lines of Lou Reed's classic, 'Walk on the Wild Side," and on Sunday Holly Woodlawn, the transgender actress who inspired the verse, passed away following a battle with cancer. Born Haroldo Santiago Franceschi Rodriguez Danhakl in Puerto Rico in 1946, Woodlawn was said to have adopted her name from combining Holly Golightly - the character from Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's - with the town of Woodlawn, New York. As a 16-year-old, Holly journeyed from Florida to New York, where she fell in with Andy Warhol' and his infamous 'Factory,' which is how she came to the attention of The Velvet Underground and singer Lou Reed, who immortalized here in the 1972 song.
