Following the untimely passing of former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland, Billy Corgan has shared a tribute on the Smashing Pumpkins' website. Corgan was one of Stone Temple Pilots' many vocal critics when Weiland's old band burst onto the grunge scene in '90s. Since then, though, he's changed his tune. In the letter, Corgan compares Weiland to David Bowie and calls him one of the most important voices of their generation, along with Kurt Cobain and Alice in Chains' Layne Staley. Corgan notes that he now considers himself a fan first.
