Idris Elba says ?Luther? is his Bond.
The British actor stared as John Luther, a brilliant detective constantly solving a series of grisly murders, in the popular BBC series ?Luther? that ended in 2013 after only three seasons. But ?Luther? is coming back for a TV special on Dec. 17.
Elba spoke at a Luther screening and Q&A event hosted by Entertainment Weekly at the Roxy Hotel in New York City on Wednesday and said, "Everyone keeps talking about Bond and all that nonsense ... but the truth is, Luther is my Bond.?
He added, ?both projects have similarity.?
Elba introduced a screening of the special by paying a quick tribute to the victims of the San Bernardino shooting, which left 14 people dead and 17 wounded.
He said, ?today, a lot of people got murdered for no reason. When you look at the violence in this [Luther], you just have to wonder to yourself, 'What are we doing?' But the truth is, this is entertainment. Take it for what it is."
