J. K. Rowling, who is a huge fan of The Smiths, has revealed that she was very excited to meet Morrissey. In an interview with The Guardian, Rowling said she and Morrissey recognized each other in a department store, of all places, and shook hands. Rowling was in such shock that she kept her hand hanging in the air after the handshake, and her sister had to tell her to put her hand down. Still, according to Mashable, Rowling explained how she understands why Harry Potter fans of all ages are continuously excited by the wizarding world. She said, "The people who mean something to you at 16 or 17 are the people who are getting you through stuff. I don?t think it?s infantile. I don?t think it?s any more infantile than me being excited to meet Morrissey."
