Wednesday marks the seventh release in the Rocky franchise, which previously starred Sylvester Stallone as the Italian Stallion, and now centers on Michael B. Jordan as series regular Apollo Creed?s son, Adonis Johnson. Fans of the original three films from the late 1970s and early 1980s no doubt remember actor Carl Weathers as Apollo Creed, and many may be wondering how Jordan fills his fictional father?s sizable shoes in the new role. Weathers had only kind words to offer regarding Jordan in Coogler?s new film, taking to Twitter to congratulate his cinematic successor, with a special tip of the hat to his former heavyweight contender Stallone, who reprises his role as Rocky Balboa for the seventh time.
