VIDEO : Benedict Cumberbatch Being Honored for His Charity Work

The queen of England Honored Benedict Cumberbatch with a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) on Tuesday.

Benedict received a Commander for his services to the performing arts and to charity.

Cumberbatch has been collecting money after his recent performances as the title role in Hamlet at the Barbican Theatre in London to raise awareness over the plight of Syrian refugees.

The 39-year-old Sherlock actor said it was "fantastic" and "nerve-wracking" to meet the Queen.

The Commander of the Order of the British Empire, ranks above Officer of the Order of the British Empire. ? which Cumberbatch's friend and onetime Oscar opponent Eddie Redmayne was appointed this summer for his services to drama.

Cumberbatch is planning to take a break from acting next year to do more charity work.
