J.J. Abrams is dropping little Star Wars: The Force Awakens gems all over the place. "The script for VIII is written," he says. "I?m sure rewrites are going to be endless, like they always are." He and screenwriter Larry Kasdan also encouraged Johnson to come to the Force Awakens set so that Johnson could watch dailies and get familiar with the world he was about to inherit. Abrams also mentioned how he "didn?t want to enter into making a movie where we didn?t really own our story," especially after his last sci-fi adventure movies, Super 8 and Star Trek Where he felt that they didnt really have the fundamental backstory intact when writing.
