VIDEO : Philip Seymour Hoffman's Family Honored at Film Festival

Philip Seymour Hoffman?s mother and brother were honored at a film festival in their hometown.

The western New York film festival opened in Rochester Sunday, with the hometown premiere of "Dog Bowl," a short film written and directed by Gordy Hoffman, who grew up in suburban Fairport.

The High Falls Film Festival officials presented Philip and Gordy's mother, Marilyn O'Connor, with the Rochester Film Legacy Award that honors a filmmaker or supporter based in the Rochester area whose passion and dedication embodies the city's film legacy.
Gordy and Philip credited their mother with inspiring their passion for movies. The film festival resumes Thursday and runs through Nov. 16.
