Google has partnered with filmmakers Ridley Scott, Anurag Kashyap and Richie Mehta to produce user-generated documentary ?India in a Day.?
The project aims to capture a day in the life of India on Oct. 10. Participants are asked to film their day across 24 hours and upload it to Google. Those whose footage gets included in the finished film will get credited as a co-director. Mehta will direct and Scott and Kashyap will be executive producers. Filmmakers R. Balki (?Shamitabh?), Zoya Akhtar (?Dil Dhadakne Do?) and Shekhar Kapur (?Elizabeth: The Golden Age?) are creative consultants on the project. The film is scheduled for release in 2016.
Scott said: ? ?India in a Day? offers a unique opportunity for anyone and everyone across India to grab a camera or a phone and get out there and capture something. It doesn?t matter how small or personal it is ? from riding a bike to calling your mum. It just simply needs to bear witness to what life is like in today?s India ? that?s magical enough.?
Mehta said: ?This project is so personal to me, as I believe film is a perfect way to showcase what makes India so extraordinary.?
