Kevin Bacon is on board to star in a limited series for National Geographic Channel from producer Mark Gordon and ABC Signature Studios which revolves around the sinking of the U.S.S. Indianapolis at the end of World War II. The project is in the early stages of development. Prison Break's Paul Scheuring is writing the script adapted from the 2001 novel ?In Harm?s Way: The Sinking of the U.S.S. Indianapolis and the Extraordinary Story of its Survivors? by Doug Stanton. ?In Harm?s Way? tells the story of the Navy cruiser that was sunk in the Pacific by Japanese submarines in July 1945 after delivering uranium and other components for an atomic bomb to a U.S. base near the Philippines.
