'Empire' Co-Creator Lee Daniels is being sued by actor Sean Penn over remarks the filmmaker made about domestic violence in a recent interview. Daniels defended his ?Empire? leading man Terrence Howard, after he confessed to lashing out at his ex-wives in a new Rolling Stone interview. Lee Daniels stated he didn?t understand why the often misunderstood actor was being so vilified. The director said, ?Terrence hasn't done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he?s some sort of demon? That?s a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America.?
