Stephen Colbert isn't afraid to get tough with his interviewees ? or his live audience. When interviewing Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz on Monday's Late Show, he asked, "To what level can you truly emulate Ronald Reagan?" since Cruz differs from the former president when it comes to amnesty and tax policies. Such a confrontation triggered loud cheers from the episode's attendees. But when Colbert threw in the topic of same-sex marriage, Cruz explained that under the 10th Amendment, issues not mentioned in the Constitution should be decided upon by the states and its elected officials, instead of the Supreme Court, which prompted a few audience members to boo. However, Colbert quickly quieted the audience, saying, "However you feel, he's my guest, so please don't boo him."
