The studio has been looking to make a Jungle Cruise movie since 2004, having been in talks with both Tom Hanks and Tim Allen at various points.
Variety reported that Johnson is attached to the project. Johnson then confirmed via Twitter, saying, "Goal is to make this insanely cool and fun for fans 'round the globe. This will be Disney's third attempt at basing a movie on one of its rides. Its next attempt, Haunted Mansion with Eddie Murphy, failed to spark the same success.
