VIDEO : Channing Tatum is Still X-Men?s Gambit After Contract Negotiating Gambit

In late July, Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt was rumored to be looking at actresses to appear opposite Channing Tatum in next year?s fall 20th Century Fox mutant movie, Gambit. Wyatt would have to start shooting his movie this fall to make release, and Tatum had appeared at San Diego Comic-Con earlier in the month along with Bryan Singer?s X-Men: Apocalypse cast, so all signs pointed to Gambit moving ahead in time to make its October 2016 announced release date. Then, the film trade The Wrap posted a story claiming ?an individual with knowledge of the situation? said the Gambit ?deal? with Tatum was falling apart. The post said that Tatum was going to ?exit? the project but it was unclear if he would remain on the film as a producer. Tatum?s representation is quoted as saying ?something is up? with the ongoing negotiations at the studio. The Hollywood Reporter has chimed in, and they claimed that the deal was done, Tatum was in for Gambit, Wyatt will direct and the movie will come out October 7th, 2016. Josh Zetumer (guy who scripted the new RoboCop) wrote the script for Gambit, based on a treatment by the character?s comic book co-creator Chris Claremont. Tatum, his producing partner Reid Carolin, and X-Men franchise veterans Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg are producing.
