Rachel McAdams spent a 12-hour shift with real-life authorities to prepare for her role in HBO's True Detective . The actress went into detail about the ride along when she stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday. As Rachel explains, the night got intense during a break in at a convenience store. When a young driver tried leaving the police in the dust, an officer (whom Rachel affectionately calls "J. Lo") had to pull her out of the way.
