Taylor Swift apologized to Nicki Minaj Thursday morning in the wake of the online firestorm that's been going on for the past 48 hours that began when Minaj tweeted her disappointment about not receiving a Video of the Year nomination for "Anaconda." "I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki," Swift tweeted after having taken one of Minaj's last tweets as a personal attack. Swift's apology follows a back and forth that started with Swift responding to Minaj's original tweet. Minaj explained she wasn't calling Swift out personally and was instead trying to highlight the challenges minority artists face getting the same recognition as some of their peers in the music industry.
