Chris Christie got permission from fellow New Jersey native Jon Bon Jovi to use his songs during his presidential campaign, the rocker confirmed to POLITICO through a publicist on Tuesday.
Christie played Bon Jovi?s ?Who Says You Can?t Go Home? during his campaign announcement speech on Tuesday at his former high school in Livingston, New Jersey.
?My friendships are apolitical, and yes, I absolutely gave him permission to use my songs,? Bon Jovi said in a statement through his publicist.
Bon Jovi, who hosted a fundraiser for Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton in Red Bank, New Jersey, on Monday night, has had a friendly relationship with the New Jersey governor in the past.
In 2013, Bon Jovi donated $1 million to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, which was set up by Christie?s wife Mary Pat Christie.
