Benicio Del Toro is not sure if his character Taneleer Tivan, better known as The Collector, will return for Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
Director James Gunn had previously said that The Collector was going to be a part of the sequel, but things can change.
At the end of the last film, The Collector sat around his collection which had been mostly destroyed when Carina made the ill-fated decision to grab the Infinity Stone.
Del Toro spent a lot of time researching The Collector and knows which aspects of the character he'd like to explore from the comics.
The actor said, "one of the most interesting things that I learned about him is the reasons that he's collecting."
Del Toro added, "eventually there's going to be an apocalypse in the universe and he wants to get things to safety."
That apocalypse, is Thanos.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will arrive in theaters May 5, 2017.
