Being compared to Saddam Hussein is not analogy most politicians on the rise would welcome, but Scotland's first minister Nicola Sturgeon seemed undaunted by it in her U.S. late-night talk show debut.
The "Sturgeonator," who led the Scottish National Party to a hugely successful result in recent elections, appeared Monday night on The Daily Show as part of her four-day tour to the U.S.
After she joked that she was going to launch an enquiry to find out why the SNP won 56 of the 59 seats in Scotland and not all of them, John Stewart said: "You think you're Saddam Hussein? You get 99%?"
Undeterred, Sturgeon responded: "I think you should always aim for more."
Sturgeon also joked about Scotland's oil reserves after the host asked: "You've got oil? May we invade you?"
She said: ?I think this is progress because you just heard there Jon, presumably on behalf of the United States, ask permission to invade an oil-producing country. It doesn?t usually work that way.???
