Metalheads are perhaps the most dedicated fans to their genre. That dedication came through in data published last month by Spotify that found metal has the most loyal fans across the world of any major genre by a wide margin. Pop was a distant second, followed by folk and country. Spotify calculated loyalty by looking at how often people returned to the core bands of these genres. What may be surprising to many mainstream listeners who long ago traded Skid Row and Def Leppard for John Legend and Taylor Swift, is that heavy metal has maintained a vibrant, diverse, and very global scene thanks to its dedicated fans.??
