Nick Offerman has joined the cast of The Founder, The Weinstein Co. and FilmNation's drama detailing the rise of the McDonald's fast-food empire.
Michael Keaton is starring as McDonald?s exec Ray Croc, while Laura Dern will portray his wife in the biopic, which is being directed by John Lee Hancock.
Written by Robert Siegel, The Founder tells the true story of how Kroc, a salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers' speedy system of food prep and saw franchise potential. He maneuvered himself into a position to be able to wrest the company away from the brothers and created a billion-dollar empire.
Offerman will play Dick McDonald, a control freak who gave in to pressure from his brother to let Kroc have more control of the business, only to realize too late he was being pushed out.??
