Actor John Travolta has spoken out to defend Scientology in the wake of a controversial documentary but admits he did not watch the film and has no intention of ever seeing it.
The movie, ?Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief,? aired on HBO last month and made several criticisms of the church and the treatment of its members.
Around the time of the broadcast, Scientology leaders issued a statement dismissing the documentary as ?dishonest,? and now longterm Scientologist Travolta has spoken out to defend his beliefs.
The actor, a member of the church for 40 years, admitted he has not watched the doc but is adamant Scientology is not dangerous.
The 61-year-old Hollywood star told the Tampa Bay Times, ?I?ve been so happy with my experience in the last 40 years that I really don?t have anything to say that would shed light on (a film) so decidedly negative.???
