ABC canceled the "Roseanne" remake after firing Barr for a racist tweet, but the series is far from over. ABC has embraced the return of the Lanford, Illinois family in the new series "The Conners". According to Business Insider, the new series is successful in their reinvention, without feeling like a completely different series. The show is so adept at good storytelling in large part due to the award winning ensemble cast of John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, and Laurie Metcalf, who were previously written around the character of Roseanne without much room to shine on their own. The Conners premieres on ABC, Tuesday, October 16 at 8:00 pm.
