The first few Oscars of the upcoming awards season were given to four film-industry veterans and one virtual-reality project. Filmmaker Agnes Varda, Donald Sutherland, Charles Burnett, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, and Owen Roizman were honored at the untelevised ninth annual Governors Awards. None of the night's presenters or honorees mentioned the current growing sexual harassment scandal in Hollywood.
