James Gunn, writer and director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, hopes that actor Michael Rooker receives an Oscar nomination for his role as Yondu. Rooker's acting career spans more than three decades with over 100 roles in film and TV. He didn't start receiving major recognition thought until 2010, when he played the villain Merle Dixon in AMC's The Walking Dead. Shortly after his departure from the show, Gunn gave him the role of the Ravager Yondu.
