On Friday images debuted on IGN, revealing concept art for the upcoming "Judge Dredd: Mega-City One" TV Show. The first image, entitled "Democracy March," presents the streets of Mega-City packed with protesting citizens, while the second, entitled "Lowlife Arrival," delves into the underground of the futuristic metropolis.
The Judge Dredd comic strip was created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra, first appearing in the second issue of the weekly sci-fi anthology comic "2000 AD" in 1977. It has been brought to the big screen twice, first with Sylvester Stallone in 1995 and more recently with Karl Urban playing the titular character in 2012's "Dredd." A law enforcement officer in a dystopian future, the character of Judge Dredd is a "street judge", empowered to arrest, convict, sentence, and execute criminals. The TV series plans to create "multi-thread storylines, one of which will be Dredd?s but others which take us into the wider world of Mega-City One," and the photos indicate that the TV series will focus, in large part, on futuristic world building.
