VIDEO : Jodie Whittaker Announced As Next Doctor In 'Doctor Who'

Jodie Whittaker has been announced as the next Doctor in season 11 of "Doctor Who." She is the first woman to ever take on the role of a Time Lord. Incoming showrunner, Chris Chibnall, worked with Whittaker on another British TV show, "Broadchurch," and said he always knew he wanted a female Doctor. The news has mostly been met with positive reactions. Current Doctor, Peter Capaldi, tweeted says he thinks Whittaker will be great in the role. "Doctor Who" will return to BBC America and BBC 1 at Christmas for a special episode. Season 11 will premiere sometime in 2018.
