George Romero, director of the classic "Night of the Living Dead" has died. He was 77. Romero directed other horror films. He turned zombie movies into social commentaries and saw his flesh-devouring undead spawn countless imitators, remakes and homages.
His family said in a statement provided by his manager Chris Roe, that Romero died Sunday following a battle with lung cancer.
