The Los Angeles Times has reported that director George A. Romero has passed away following a ?brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer.' According to Romero's longtime producing partner Peter Grunwald, the 77-year-old director passed away peacefully while listening to the score for the 1952 film 'The Quiet Man.' In 1968, Romero directed Night of the Living Dead, which became a cornerstone of the horror genre.
